One of the big questions to ask yourself when choosing to go on an African Safari is,
East or South?
The way we feel, we are not comparing apples with apples here. The safaris in Southern Africa and Eastern Africa are very different in so many ways. To say whether one is “better” than the other is pointless – it’s like choosing between your children!
When it comes to ensuring great sightings of the “Big 5“(elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo) both regions certainly deliver and they also cater to all tastes and budgets and are suitable for single travellers, families with children, honeymooners, self-drivers, over landers, 5 star luxury seekers, backpackers and groups of friends travelling together. The regions are just different.
Below you will find the main highlights of each area and what might draw you into choosing one or the other:
As you can see, each region has its own remarkable highlights and so much to choose from. You simply can’t go wrong with either choice. It may come down to your personal bucket list, the time of the year which you wish to travel or possibly your main flights accessing the continent which both regions have great options.
