MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique is best known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters and uninhabited islands. Combine this with a Traditional Safari and you will have one the best holiday adventures that you can experience.

Maputo is the Capital of Mozambique and is located in a large natural bay which makes an Indian Ocean port. The city’s colonial heritage, vibrant residents, bustling markets and its delicious cuisine makes it a fascinating place to visit.

Vilanculos is a small coastal town and a great destination in its own right but often linked with Bazaruto. There are some beautiful luxury accommodation options and activities that are a must to include are horse rides along the beach as well as snorkelling and diving trips to the nearby islands.

Inhambane is a beautiful charming town just north of Maputo and is known for its serene atmosphere surrounded by beautiful seaside with a history that reaches back at least a millennium, making it one of the oldest settlements along the coast. Nearby towns of Tofo and Barra are best known for their wide beaches, world famous scuba diving and swimming with whale sharks.

The Bazaruto Archipelago, Africa’s biggest marine reserve, is made up of an extraordinary collection of 5 picturesque islands and is the perfect place for slowing down and enjoying the easy pace of island life, fresh seafood and sunset cruises aboard a traditional dhow. Interestingly, Bazaruto contains the last viable population of the elusive Dugong within the Western Indian Ocean.  In 2017, African Parks signed a 25-year management agreement with Mozambique’s National Administration of Conservation Areas to restore, develop and manage Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, and revitalize it to become one of the leading and most productive marine protected areas in eastern Africa.

A hidden treasure in the North of Mozambique, the Quirimbas are group of 30 or so tropical islands with only a handful having accommodation or indeed development of any kind. Known for its vivid coral reefs, brilliant blue sea and even some ancient baobab trees, this region is the perfect private island escape.
